This is my first project for my Digital Image Design class, in which we were asked to do a promotional poster for a game or movie of our choice. The idea was that we use multiple mediums and techniques to create an appropriate visual style.
At first I thought of the obvious (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts etc), but I wanted to try something different to what I usually do. Ever since I played Kingdom Hearts 2, I had a minor obsession with the Space Paranoids world, despite the fact that I'd never seen the original movie (though I had played one of the light cycle games). So I figured that Tron would fit the brief well, and I'd have a good excuse to see the movie and find out just what it was I'd been geeking out about all this time. If you haven't seen it, or played any of the games, here's the Wikipedia page with a synopsis: [link] I really enjoyed it, despite the 80's acting and plot. The visual style is so unusual, it was the first movie to use 3D graphics to any major degree. I'd say it's worth watching just for that. I'm not going to do into detail on the techniques I used here ( -Photoshop CS2, Maya 6.5 & Wacom Graphire Tablet -4 weeks, most likely 25+ hours if you include research and development work |
