Have you ever watched the 'Freedom' anime? This reminded me of it. It's about people living on the moon, being told that Earth is a barren wasteland, when all the while the unknown people left on Earth send up messages and photos in a rocket to the moon in the hopes that they realise they are alive!...
I really liked it.Maybe you will too!!
btw - In Japan!! Woo! Going to Tokyo this week - any suggestions of cool awesome things?
Oooh, Tokyo huh? I'd recommend Akihabara, Shibuya and Harajuku... Akihabara for all the anime/game stores, Shibuya for trendy fashion and sight-seeing and Harajuku for alternative clothing (lolli, punk, goth, and just plain weird! ...they also have a famous and amazing crepe shop and a lovely temple).
Other than that, there's both Tokyo tower and the even taller Tokyo Skytree (it wasn't open yet when I went earlier in the year, but it is now). If you go to one of those, I recommend going just before sunset, so you can see how pretty everything is at night.
Fuji TV's also pretty fun to visit, and has One Piece merchandise galore, as does the JUMP shop. There's also a Pokecentre, which is basically a giant Pokemon shop, but it's super cute. Also, make sure you go to one big department store while you're there, it's just a crazy experience!

Yeah, the Freedom Project took a little to get used to (it's in 3D which we found strange but really liked it after a while) but it became really intriguing and we loved it. Plus the music is awesome and the theme song is really nice.
(also, Kappei Yamaguchi (Usopp, L) voices 'Biz'.. he's so awesome. (: )
