This year, the sakura (cherry trees) bloomed late in Japan, so unfortunately, I missed most of the bloom. On the last day of our trip, we headed down to Ueno park, to see if there were any trees blooming ahead of the prediction... and we were in luck!
This tree, near one of the entrances, was in full bloom. Since this is Japan we're talking about, naturally there was a large number of people taking photos of it, but curiously, a small number were gathered around the trunk of the tree. Closer inspection revealed a large, and surprisingly, undeterred cat lounging on a low branch.
