When I submit pictures which have a focus on scenery, I almost always seem to get a few comments from people who are having trouble drawing them themselves. ...I certainly know the feeling! I mean, I started out drawing in very much the same way as a lot of people here on DA, drawing mostly characters with backgrounds added as an after thought.

You can learn perspective drawing and do studies from reference pictures and so on... but you know what? The best piece of advice is something that I heard from another artist, and it's this: Learn to love drawing the whole picture, not just characters. That changed my perspective entirely (pun intended).

i kno wat u mean.. i love scenery and background.. it does take time i know... i started out with both but i do more with people then i do with scenery.. i know i gotta work on it..
