Here’s my obi-corset and kimono top for a Japanese-themed ball. I only decided to make it a week before after finding real yukata fabric for sale at Spotlight (seriously, I was so happy I bought the whole roll!).
It was bit of a rush job to sew it all with no patterns to go from, I butchered an old jacket for the kimono top, but I think it just cost me more time as it was stretch fabric and a real pain to work with. The black top and skirt I wore under these are Qutie Frash brand clothing from Japan and the obijime is borrowed from my Amaterasu costume.
My sister’s partner asked me if I had a hair piece… and I realised I hadn’t made one, so I put the kanzashi hair piece together in the last half an hour I had before I had to get ready! I’d never made one before, but it was fun! I’ll have to try making others sometime!Share this on Tumblr!
