Dark Crystal: Fizzgig Puppet

I'm not sure if many of you will recognise this one. ^^ It's a puppet I made back in 2002, of Fizzgig from The Dark Crystal (Jim Henson film!). You can see some reference pictures here: [link] and [link] He's not as accurate as he could be; when I made him, it was extremely difficult to find reference pictures. I ended up having to go through our old scratchy tape to try to find frames of him. (though yes, he does have that tail in the movie; there's only one shot where you see it though )

I made him to go along with my sister's Kira costume for the Swancon 2002 masquerade. So much fun! Many a finger were nearly bitten off. I brought him along to Swancon this year too, and had got to amuse some little kids. You'd be amazed how much of a novelty a puppet with teeth can be.

He's made using chicken wire as a frame, which I covered in paper maché. I then made his fur, eyes, nose and such and sewed it to the frame (^^ he's also got a little stuffing too, so he's nice and huggable... if he's not in a bitey mood). I painted the inside of him mouth; the teeth are made out of icecream container plastic, and the tongue is a fake leather material.
