A rather quick costume for a cosplay picnic. The theme was "Grand Adventure", but I had some friends who were going for a steampunk theme, so that got me thinking.

I didn't have time to do a whole costume for it, and couldn't think of anything that I could make in time. Then at about 11PM the night before, I was thinking about how cool it would be to make a pair of metal wings (^_< If you're a watcher, you probably know how much I love them). I was all "yeah, but there's no way I'd be able to make them in time, I don't have half the materials I'd need..." Wait, ...or do I?

So I did a quick brainstorm, drew up some designs and gathered up some foam core board and random junk from the shed. We had some chrome spray paint left over from previous weapon-prop making projects too.

I cut out the pieces, then attached them together using screws and hot glue (hot glue = love. It's the only way I was able to make this so quickly). I used wire to attach them to the back-piece, so that the angle would be adjustable. The decorations are screws and washers that I had in the garage. Despite the appearance, the wings are extremely light.

All in all, it only took three hours to make them! I'd love to make another pair at some stage, maybe a little larger, when I have more time to spend on it.
