This one's all inked on computer. I went with thinner lines than I usually do for lineart, which seems to make it look more like the original cartoon.
Not sure I've quite got the Avatar style working for me yet. Momo was particularly hard to draw for some reason. I'll have to upload a detail shot with Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko, as you can't really see their expressions in this 1/4 scale picture.
I think you're insane if you don't think you have the Avatar style down correctly; this is, I must say, amazingly done, so much so that it looks more like a promotional screenshot or something than a work of fanart. The background in particular is pure artistic genius; like the show itself you present a breathtaking panorama, though as your last critiquer mentioned it somehow looks odd compared to the characters, more like a painting than they are. But not really detrimentally or anything.
I'm having a hard time finding much to criticize---Appa's tail is too long, and actually I'm wondering if he's too small compared to the people riding him, but that could completely be my imagination. Momo looks odd, but that's the point; everybody looks just about perfect, so all in all this is a positively fantastic job you've done here. Congratulations and great work!
Wow! Nicely done all around. I'd say you've got the AtLA style down pat. Also, REALLY nice work on the background, especially the mountains.
I love the characters' expressions in particular, especially Zuko's facepalm there. I find it interesting that you drew Aang in his outfit from the first two seasons, yet drew Zuko in his third season outfit. I'm not complaining, though, it's just something that stuck out, and it's actually a nice contrast.
A couple of things I think could use fixing... Appa's tail seems a bit too long to me. Also, the cel-shading of the characters against the painted background seems... I don't know how to say it. Out of place, I guess. But then, that's how things are done in animation, and you are trying to emulate the original style of the show, so I can see why you chose to do that. Still, I would like to see a more paint-y version of this as well.
WOW you're amazing, how did you do it!! PURE GENIUS!!!!! I didn't want to write a critique because I'm not very good, until I get to your level then and only then will I write one, but AWESOME JOB!!!!!!!
