Character Painting Tutorial Part 2 by Risachantag
Character Painting Tutorial Part 2
Part 1: Character Painting Tutorial Part 1 by Risachantag

Here's part 2. Shading the character will have to wait until the next part, as a little theory on light and colour seemed more important to come first. If you'd like more detail on how light and colour work, I recommend the Gnomon workshop: www.thegnomonworkshop.com/stor…

Again, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Character Painting Tutorial Part 1
I had some requests while I was at SMASH for some new tutorials ...and wow, it's been about five years since the last one! I did a couple of guest lectures at ECU these past two weeks, so it seems like a good opportunity to use my examples from that for a new tutorial.

Normally I draw on paper for these first steps, but as this painting was done for a live lecture, it's drawn in Photoshop.

I paint in so many different styles these days, but this would be the closest thing I have to a 'style' that I default to. If you have any questions, or requests for other topics, feel free to ask below.

Hi guys, the artist alley map has been released for SMASH this weekend!

The artist alley has moved to the level 2 in the Grand Pavilion (where the panels and screening rooms were last year). Alas, no view over the race course this year!

My stall is "7th Heaven", along the right hand side. Stall number 7 even, I'm sure someone had fun with that. =P

I fly out tomorrow, so if you'd like to preorder any prints or pins, please let me know by tonight! For info on preordering, see my last journal: Preorders for SMASH! in Sydney
The Stuff of Nightmares by Risachantag
The Stuff of Nightmares
A little tribute to creepy stop motion classics. A little while ago I watched Paranorman with my partner and where I expected a standard coming-of-age monster movie, I ran into a bucket full of feels. So many feels! While these movies all have that horror vibe, there's so much heart hidden underneath that boney exterior.

If you don't recognise one or more: Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, The Corpse Bride, Paranorman

Hi Sydney peeps~!

I'll be at SMASH! again this year, with tons of new art posters, mini prints and pins!

Unfortunately last year I ran out of a number of prints and had no way of printing extras overnight while in Sydney, so I'm offering pre-orders for prints this year!

So I bought Freedom Fall, and I love it, its one of the best platformers I've ever played and the art style is great, the messages on the wall from the princess were also an awesome idea. I only wish the game were longer or even if there were a 2nd game. I played it pretty non-stop for about 8 hours or so until I finished it. It was addictive and exciting. Overall I think it was brilliant from the tower design and level design, to the play style and the art :)

Ok so first of all: your art is amazing and I love it! Second of all: did you happen to own a dedicated Goten/Trunks fanart website waaaaay back in the day? Before DA was a thing? Because I can sorta recall your username in combination with your art style... i dunno XD

Thanks! ...and yes, I did run a Goten fan site when I was in high school. It's even still online: www.lisa-rye.com/dbatgs/

Omg haha nostalgia. I loved looking through your site. :omg: I also looked at Brianna's art and Tifa's art page. :-) How long ago was this? I had my own site called Super Saiyan World. Geez. Just looked up Angelfire. I created that account in 2001. Such an age ago. XD
